What is chronic joint pain?

Pain lasting more than 3 months in one or more joints is considered chronic. It restricts daily activities and worsens over time without treatment.


Causes:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Gout
  • Overuse or repetitive strain
  • Previous joint injuries or inflammation


Symptoms:

  • Joint pain and stiffness
  • Swelling and inflammation
  • Limited range of motion
  • Increased pain in cold weather
  • Sleep disruption


Diagnosis:

  • Rheumatologist consultation
  • Ultrasound or X-ray
  • Blood tests (rheumatoid factor, CRP)
  • MRI if needed


Treatment:

  • Anti-inflammatory medications
  • Physiotherapy (laser, ultrasound, magnet)
  • Massage and thermal therapy
  • Diet and exercise routines
  • Intra-articular injections for advanced cases
