Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is caused by an imbalance in reproductive hormones that affects ovarian function. The ovaries may develop numerous fluid-filled sacs (cysts) which interfere with ovulation. PCOS is also commonly associated with insulin resistance and increased androgen levels.
