Cervical Cancer

Cervical Cancer

Cervical cancer is strongly linked to persistent high-risk HPV infection. Many cases are preventable through HPV vaccination and regular screening.

How to diagnose

  • Clinical exam + Pap and/or high-risk HPV testing
  • Colposcopy + biopsy when results are abnormal
  • If confirmed, further evaluation may be used to define stage and plan treatment.

How to treat

Treatment is stage-based:

  • Surgery for selected early stages
  • Radiation therapy, often combined with chemotherapy for certain stages
  • Follow-up care is important during and after treatment.

FAQ

Is cervical cancer preventable? Often yes—HPV vaccination + screening.

Pap vs HPV test? Pap checks cell changes; HPV checks high-risk virus.
