Heart Rhythm Disorders (Arrhythmias)

An arrhythmia occurs due to a disruption in the heart's electrical conduction system. It may present as tachycardia (fast heartbeat), bradycardia (slow heartbeat), or fibrillation (irregular rhythm). These rhythm disturbances can affect the heart’s ability to pump blood effectively.


Symptoms:

Causes:

  • Holter monitor (24-hour ECG)

  • Electrophysiological studies


Treatment:

  • Medications (antiarrhythmics, beta-blockers)
  • Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD)
  • Pacemaker implantation
  • Catheter ablation therapy
